Last week I sent a Connections Update email requesting donations of lawn equipment for a new outreach ministry by Franklin Ave Baptist in New Orleans.

Thirteen pieces of equipment were donated (pictured above). Monday and Tuesday Sheldon Bivin, a retired friend who loves to serve, worked with me to get everything operational.

Yesterday, I used one of The Chapel’s vehicles and a trailer to deliver the equipment to Franklin Ave Baptist. The second picture is of Gary Mack, the pastor who leads outreach efforts, and me standing beside the trailer they just bought for this outreach ministry. The funds for the trailer came from Trinity Bible Church in Lafayette.
Isn’t it great to see the Body of Christ working together to touch people with the love of Christ!
Isn’t it great to think that the Lord is moving His body in many ways like this every day because of His love!
One other thing. Please pray for the Returning Hearts Celebration outreach this Saturday at Hunt Correctional Center in St. Gabriel. About 125 children are signed up to join their fathers for a day of fun and ministry!
Thanks for praying!

Sunday April 6th was the first Sunday since the foul flood waters of Katrina poured into its buildings that Franklin Ave Baptist Church was able to hold worship services in its facilities near the 9th Ward! My wife, Anne, and I were able to join this wonderful part of the family of God for a great day of rejoicing and it was great to be there! The Times Picayune featured this event with a big front page picture and article yesterday, showing its importance to the city.

Do you dream? I don’t mean at night. I mean do you have any dreams of what you want to accomplish that stir you deep inside?
God has given me dreams for ministry in the body of Christ and through the body to reach people who don’t know the Lord. I am deeply stirred by my desire
* to help believers grow to maturity in every area of their lives so they can live in the joy and love of the Lord

I have had so much fun reporting about the change in the spiritual climate that has taken place in New Orleans since Katrina. Hy McEnry, who grew up in New Orleans and who has served with Child Evangelism Fellowship in New Orleans for the past nine years, told me and encouraging story. Right after the Katrina disaster Hy was serving in the relief efforts. Read on…

Recently we had the opportunity to help with an outreach project in New Orleans. The outreach was called Convoy of Hope and it took place on Saturday November 18th near the French Quarter. It was an outreach to needy families and their children. On that day a warm meal and 35,000 lbs of groceries were given away to about 3,000 people. Free services such as health screenings were also provided. Read on…

Wouldn’t it be great if we could say that about New Orleans! In a way we can. Because of the thousands of Christians who have gone to New Orleans to deliver food and clothes and who have gutted the molding insides of houses and who have repaired houses there is an opening for spiritual light into the lives of many. Many people in New Orleans who Read on…
